Seven NPSD Students Place in Top 5 at PA Farm Show Agricultural Education Horticulture Competition

Despite frigid temperatures in the northeast, award-winning floral arrangements were in full bloom for seven North Penn School District (NPSD) students who recently competed at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Agricultural Education Horticulture Competition in Harrisburg, PA.

Each year, students throughout the state travel to Harrisburg to attend the PA Farm Show and compete against fellow agricultural education students in the Agricultural Education Horticulture Competition. On January 5, NPSD students made the trip along with several of their classmates studying Horticulture under the direction of Patty Miller at the North Montco Technical Career Center (NMTCC). These students spent months independently planning, designing and producing spectacular arrangements to be judged at the competition which offers a variety of 32 categories for students to compete in.

NPSD student entries blew judges away and seven students placed in the top five in their category, as listed below:

  • Autumn Haws, Pennfield: 4th Place, Dish Garden Category
  • Patricia Lally, North Penn High School (NPHS): 1st Place, All Around Arrangement in a Mug Category; 1st Place, Table Centerpiece (Valentine's Day Theme) Category
  • Catherine Maurer, Pennfield: 4th Place, Hospital Arrangement (Boy Theme) Category
  • Quentin Miree, NPHS: 2nd Place, Dish Garden, Foliage Only Category
  • Dymond Rodriguez, NPHS: 1st Place, Dish Garden Category; 1st Place, Wedding Cake Topper Category
  • Steven Snyder, NPHS: 5th Place, Fresh Wreath (Christmas Theme) Category
  • Morgan Strohl, Pennfield: 5th Place, Table Centerpiece (Valentine's Day Theme) Category

Pennsylvania is proud to host the largest indoor agricultural exposition under one roof in the nation, with nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibits every year. The event showcases the quality and breadth of Pennsylvania's agriculture industry and the people who make it thrive.

Congratulations to the NPSD students for being recognized for their hard work on their outstanding arrangements at the PA Farm Show.
