Free Curbside Meal Pick-Up during Virtual Learning

Free Curbside Meal Pick-Up during Virtual Learning

The North Penn School District Nutrition Services is happy to announce our newest school meals offering, our Curbside Pick-up program. Starting September 8, 2020, we will offer free breakfast and lunch bundles to all children 18 and under. We are providing a full week of meals per bundle and have designed a menu where students can have all of their favorite school meals at home. Free meals will be offered through June 30, 2021!

Overview

  • The Curbside Pick-up Program is operating to fit the needs of our virtual learners. We will continue to provide the same components and follow the same nutritional guidelines as if we were in person. Breakfast and lunch will be bundled for a full week of meals. All meals are FREE of charge for any child 18 and under. No identification is required.
  • Hybrid students can also continue to pick up curbside meal bundles for the days they will be learning virtually.
  • The basic flow of collecting meals is: Pull up to any of our curbside pick up locations (listed below) during hours of operation→ Let an SNS team member know how many children you are picking meals up for→ An SNS team member will place your meals in trunk→ Take home and enjoy!

Applying for Free or Reduced-Priced Meals

We encourage families to still apply now for free and reduced price meals, even though all our meals are currently free of charge. Your application will be valid for the entire 2020-2021 school year.
Low-income children are eligible to receive reduced-price or free meals at school. Children in households with incomes below 130 percent of the poverty level or those receiving SNAP or TANF qualify for free meals. Those with family incomes between 130 and 185 percent of the poverty line qualify for reduced-price meals. We encourage all families to apply for free or reduced-price meals. Applications are accepted year-round. Once a family is qualified, they will keep their status for the entire school year. If sudden events occur that impact a family’s income, applications can be filled out at any time.
